100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream Review and Pictures

I had heard good (and bad) things about this product and the brand it belongs to, so I decided to give it a shot and ordered 100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream through the local distributor (do check out the 100% Pure Singapore Facebook page) Read on to find out more about my experience with this delightfully scented au naturale eye cream...

I was very excited about using this product, as I have genetically dark undereye circles (due to sinus problems, thin skin, poor blood circulation and pigmentation) and usually rely on concealer to even out my undereye imperfections.

My Impressions

Price: Originally 35 SGD as stated on their website, but I got it at 15% discount because there was a special promotion for Facebook users if you became a fan of 100 Percent Pure on Facebook.

Packaging: Pleasantly simple glass pump bottle/dispenser with ingredient label on the back. About the size of your hand (and my hands are pretty small!).

Ingredients: Organic Green Tea1, Organic Calendula Hydrosol1, Organic Rosehip Oil1, Organic Green Coffee2 Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Extracts of Coffee Cherry, Organic Rosemary3, Organic Oregano3, Organic Thyme3, Organic Grapefruit Seed3 and Organic Goldenseal4, Organic Vanilla Absolute3, Candelilla Wax

According to Purity Cosmetics, the Singapore distributor of 100% Pure products...
100% products are truly 100% Pure-no synthetic chemicals, chemical preservatives, artificial fragrances, artificial colors, harsh detergents or any other unhealthy toxins.
We love animals and refuse to support anything that hurts animals which is why none of our formulas are ever tested on animals (everything we use is food grade and does not require testing, whereas chemical ingredients must be tested). All our makeup brushes are from synthetic fibers. No animals were hurt for their fur and no animals were hurt for any of our ingredients (the only animal ingredient we use is cruelty free honey).
Since 100% Pure products do not contain any synthetic chemicals, parabens, sulfates or harsh detergents, artificial fragrances or colors, phthalates, 100% Pure is safe for kids to use..
Scent: Goodness gracious, it smells great! The scent is a mix between the scent of buttered popcorn, tea and coffee. Nothing overpowering, but smells yummy enough to fool me into thinking it could be dessert.

Usability: The pumping/squirting device sucks. It's like those pump bottles of soap/cream, but somehow the product is too thick for the tube and one pump either gives you too much product or nothing if you don't push down hard enough. There was an instance where the cream squirted out 20 cm away from my hand while trying to dispense some onto my palm. Here's a tip: use your finger to cover half of the hole through which the product comes out. This will ensure the product oozes out slowly and gives you just about enough cream to use for one eye.

Effectiveness: Before I tell you about its effectiveness (or lack thereof), we'll have to look at what it claims to be able to do.

I took this off their website, which currently retails a number of products by 100% Pure. Note: The Eye Cream I got is currently OOS and I have no idea if they will be bringing it back in. You could always ping them on their Facebook page or email Janet to ask. She's very helpful!

I used the Eye Cream everyday for at least 3 months before forming a more or less solid impression of it. It's a pity I don't have photos to show because it was a gradual change, and hard to capture photographically.

Claim 1: Reduction in puffiness

Agreed! There was an obvious reduction in puffiness after a few times of use. Caffeine is a good way of reducing puffiness - that's why you put tea bags on your eyes when they are puffy :)

Claim 2: Reduction in dark circles

Nope, not for me. Maybe it's because my dark circles aren't caused by external factors such as lack of sleep, stress, sickness etc, but internal factors like poor blood circulation, sinus problems and thin skin. Pity though, I haven't been able to find a product that reduces dark circles effectively. Maybe only that Raspberry Collagen Eye Mask by The Face Shop... Hm.

Claim 3: More youthful looking eyes

I don't really have fine lines or wrinkles so I can't say whether it's very effective in that aspect. The cream absorbed well and left my undereye skin feeling softer and smoother though.

These are only my opinions; for others' opinions on Makeup Alley, check out the reviews of 100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye cream!

The Verdict

+ Absorbs well
+ Reduces puffiness
+ Works well as a basic eye cream
+ Can be used for 6 months after opening

- A little expensive
- Unable to dispense product in comfortable amounts
- Did not work on my dark undereye circles

Overall: ♥♥♥ (lovely scent, nice texture, good ingredients)
Product Packaging: ♥♥ (would have been better if not for the lousy dispenser)
Effectiveness: ♥♥-
Repurchase value: ♥ (only if there's a promotion/I have enough money to spare)
